Amazon Has Tough Time Making Enough Kindles

We a wize.com always love when a product is popular. Such is the case with Kindle, Amazon's electronic book reader.

Kindles are just too popular, so much so that Amazon can't meet customers' demands for them.

Amazon's CEO, Jeff Bezos, put out a letter on the company's Web site today, stating that they didn't expect that so many people would want the device.

If you want a Kindle today, you have to get in line, and, most likely, wait six weeks for it to be shipped.

Bezos hopes that playing the waiting game won't last forever. "We hope to be able to announce to you within the next few weeks that we're back in stock  and that when you order a Kindle, we'll ship it to you that very same day," he wrote.

One of the most popular features of the device is that you have access to the data  anywhere and anytime because it uses Sprint's EVDO network, a national network that access data in the same way a cell phone does.

Blogcritics Reviews "Digital Nature Photography"

I can remember back two years ago when blogcritics.org reviewed my book, "Digital Art Photography for Dummies."

The review was favorable, thank goodness.

Blogcritics.org gives some of the best book reviews on the Web.

Today it came out with a review for "Digital Nature Photography - The Art and the Science" by John and Barbara Gerlach.

The husband-and-wife team who wrote the book had the thousands of people who attend their workshops in mind. "Digital Nature Photography: The Art And The Science is the book that their workshop attendees have been asking for," writes blogcritics.org.

The book, an introductory text, contains chapters such as: Choosing your Digital Camera, Using Lenses Effectively and The Magic of Light.

The review offers a few general comments about the specific chapters, and ranked the book favorably overall.

Books are to Kindle as Songs are to Ipod

The New York Times came out with its two-bits (two articles, that is) about Kindle, the electronic book reader from Amazon over the past few days.

The paper says Amazon is trying to do for books what Apple has done for music. I mean isn't that like comparing apples to oranges. Last time I recalled, books are to be read and music is to be listened to.

But, yes, I do get their analogy books are to songs as Kindle is to Ipod.

One of the important things the paper points out is that it is for sale using a Kindle for $13.99 a month.

My word, the paper has an interest in the device.

And, now, it rips it apart saying that at $399 it's too expensive, questioning the amount of reading material it offers (Who reads 40 books a year?) and calling the paper book a product that's not broken (Why fix it if it ain't broke?).

All of this is comes by looking at the device as a money-saving instrument for reading books.

I ask the New York Times this: "Why are you skipping an evaluation of Kindle's worth with respect to blogs?"

I mean that's what I'm going to read when I buy the device, oh, and I'll read the New York Times too.
