Curved Display Announced

Curved Display Technology on glass substrate is making its debut today from AUO. The technology will be exhibited at SID (Society for Information Display) Display Week 2008, which begins tomorrow in Los Angeles and goes on to May 22.

According to a press release from AUO, "the specially designed curved backlight unit maintains uniformity in brightness and contrast on the curved surface."

More about AUO: "AUO is able to provide customers a full range of panel sizes and comprehensive applications, offering TFT-LCD panels in sizes ranging from 1.5 inches to greater than 65 inches."

$300 NEC MultiSync LCD205WXM monitor

Macworld came out with a stellar review for the NEC MultiSync LCD205WXM monitor.

Here are some highlights:

"20-inch wide-screen LCD with both digital DVI and analog inputs."

"Height adjustment and decent-sounding speakers, along with very good color fidelity and text legibility."

"Very good color fidelity compared to other similar sized monitors."

"High marks for text legibility, being rated as very good even at small point sizes."

"The viewing angle was not as good as what we’ve seen from other NEC monitors, but it was better than many of the 20-inch LCDs"

That article also noted that you'll need to use onscreen color controls to get the best display as the default settings are too blue.
