Last week, The Panasonic FZ 50 was reviewed by Steve's Digitcams.
Just posted at dpreview.com is a review of a similar camera, the Nikon Coolpix P5100.
This camera has a whopping 12.1 MP of resolution and ISO speeds up to 3200 (only for images less than 5 MP or smaller). Talk about taking a shot in the dark. If any camera can shoot in almost dark conditions, it would be this one!
The camera also has vibration reduction, a Nikon NIKKOR lens and shooting modes (including shutter priorty and aperture priority) similar to what you might find on a dSLR camera.
Other features that I like are: red-eye fix in the camera, black and white shooting capabilities with four color tone selections, macro lens where you can shoot as close as 4 cm away from your subject.
Nikon's P5100 is an improved version of its predecessor, the Nikon P5000, which got an 89 rating from wize.com.
The camera costs anywhere from $300 to $400.
